Rondebult Shopping Centre opened in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni, on Thursday, October 22, 2026, marking a significant milestone for the Rondebult community with a fully let 25,000-square-metre centre. The development, conceived by Retail Network Services (RNS), places local resident needs at its core, offering convenient shopping, family-friendly spaces and a lively food court.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was officiated by City of Ekurhuleni Councillor Khehla Madlala, kicking off opening celebrations over the first two weekends of trading. Events included DJ performances, community activations, a dance-off competition, and children’s activities such as colouring-in sessions and popcorn treats.
A curated tenant mix for the community
Rondebult Shopping Centre is 100% let at launch, with the majority of tenants new to the area. Shoprite anchors the grocery offering, complemented by Boxer and Rondebult Meat Market. Fashion brands like Power Fashion, Jet, Foschini and Truworths provide diverse style options, while Clicks and SpecSavers serve health and beauty needs. Home and appliance retailers include Pep Home, Lewis and Bradlows, alongside tech-focused stores such as Pep Cell and Ackermans Connect.
Financial services feature Capitec, FNB, Standard Bank and Old Mutual, with Nedbank and ABSA ATMs available. The food court includes Hungry Lion, Pedros, Roman’s Pizza and The Fish & Chips Co, each designed to encourage social interaction. Local businesses like Mnandi Braai and The Lume Lab reflect RNS’s commitment to community character.

“Rondebult Shopping Centre has been developed with the community at its heart,” said Gavin Tagg, CEO of RNS. “We have carefully curated a strong tenant mix that reflects the needs and preferences of local residents, while creating a welcoming space that offers more than just shopping.”
Designed by Leon Jacobs Architects, the centre features contemporary aesthetics, modern bathrooms and communal areas. A solar power plant forms part of the centre’s infrastructure. The developer also funded and completed new road infrastructure, with easy access to the centre for shoppers arriving by car or public transport. Tagg emphasized that the investment extends beyond the building itself to benefit the wider community.
Future developments
The Vegieland Centre, which is part of the original site and formerly housed Shoprite, will be integrated into the broader Rondebult Shopping Centre development and accommodate a flagship Build it store. The Rondebult Flea Market, which has traded in the area for many years and forms an integral part of the local retail environment, will continue operating from a temporary site under the solar panels while its existing location is upgraded to a new permanent market.
Additional tenants, including Wimpy, Debonairs, KFC and McDonald’s Drive-Thrus, are scheduled to open in the coming weeks, expanding the retail and dining options for residents.
