The morning Breakfast Briefings at Architecture + Building Expo 2026 have established themselves as a central feature of the event, replacing passive lectures with interactive exchanges.
The first session, titled Maximising MMC Adoption, will explore how modern methods of construction (MMC), which depend on offsite manufacturing and digital integration, can expand beyond current limitations. Taking place at 8:30 AM on October 7, the discussion will be moderated by Pat Kirwan, Associate Director at Reddy Architecture, with contributions from representatives of Ethos, MMC Ireland, Metropolitan Workshop, and Vision Built Ireland. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions following the presentations.
MMC offers a departure from conventional onsite building practices, promising greater efficiency and quality control. However, adoption remains constrained by persistent misunderstandings and practical difficulties. The session will examine these barriers and propose strategies to accelerate implementation across the sector.
The second briefing, scheduled for Thursday, October 8, focuses on the Building Energy Rating (BER) scale, now operational for half a year. Led by Michael Curran of CIBSE Ireland, the panel will include perspectives from Scott Tallon Walker Architects, SEAI, and the BER Assessors Association. The discussion will review early implementation challenges, share practical insights, and identify opportunities to strengthen energy performance requirements.

Both sessions begin at 8:00 AM with networking opportunities, followed by the formal start at 8:30 AM. They will be held in the RDS Main Hall, providing attendees with direct access to industry experts addressing the most pressing issues in construction today.
The event’s organizers emphasize that these briefings differ from standard conference presentations by prioritizing two-way engagement. The format encourages participants to contribute their own experiences and challenges, supporting a more collaborative approach to problem-solving. This interactive model reflects the growing demand within the sector for practical solutions over theoretical discussions.
Registration for the briefings remains open, with attendees advised to secure their places in advance due to limited capacity. The sessions will conclude by 9:30 AM, allowing participants to transition seamlessly into the broader Architecture + Building Expo 2026 program.
