Daikin has announced the launch of the X Series, an innovative new residential heat pump system that combines air-to-air heating and cooling with air-to-water heating and domestic hot water production, all powered from a single outdoor unit. The X Series is the first system in Daikin’s residential portfolio to integrate both technologies into one solution, offering homeowners a highly efficient and flexible way to manage home comfort throughout the year.
Designed for new-build and fully renovated homes of up to 150sq metres, the X Series delivers heating, cooling, hot water and hydraulic heating such as underfloor heating through a compact, space-saving system.
A New Approach to Comfort for Modern Irish Homes
For decades, Irish homes have been designed primarily with heat retention in mind. While this has historically suited Ireland’s climate, changing weather patterns are creating new challenges for homeowners. Recent summers have seen prolonged periods of unusually warm weather, while growing public discussion has highlighted concerns about overheating in modern, highly insulated homes. Against this backdrop, Daikin says the X Series has been designed to meet the evolving comfort needs of Irish households, providing both efficient winter heating and effective summer cooling from a single integrated system.

Kyrian Opstaele, General Manager, Daikin Ireland, stated that traditionally, Irish homeowners have focused almost entirely on keeping warmth in, because that’s what the Irish climate demanded. He noted that in recent years, Ireland has experienced increasingly hot summer periods and that more conversations are taking place about homes becoming uncomfortably warm during heatwaves. Air conditioning has never been a standard feature in Irish homes because, quite simply, it was rarely needed.
The X Series integrates air-to-air and air-to-water heat pump technology into a single outdoor unit featuring five connections. This setup allows the air-to-air and air-to-water functions to operate simultaneously in the same mode, providing greater flexibility and efficiency throughout the home. For properties where outdoor space is limited, the X Series eliminates the need for multiple outdoor units while reducing overall installation complexity.
Users can manage their indoor climate remotely through the Daikin Onecta App, which provides energy consumption monitoring for connected air-to-air units. This gives homeowners greater visibility and control over comfort and energy use throughout the year.

Installers benefit from a simplified process, as the system uses R-32 refrigerant, which requires no special on-site safety precautions. It supports a wide variety of indoor unit options, including wall-mounted, floor-standing, and cassette models, ensuring broad compatibility with different home layouts.
The X Series integrates with Daikin’s Stand By Me platform, providing access to Daikin’s nationwide service network and full after-sales support. Every installation includes support throughout the life of the system.
Technical specifications include up to A+++ air-to-air cooling efficiency, A+++ (35°C) and A+ (55°C) air-to-water heating efficiency, and A+ domestic hot water efficiency. The system supports up to four air-to-air indoor units and one Daikin hydraulic indoor unit, with hot water tank options of 180L or 230L.
